The Nova Early Adopter NFT
In November, some of our first community members may recall the “Early Adopter” NFT that was released. It was launched with few details and attracted many due to its air of mystery (and also the fact that it was free to mint).
Every day, we get messages about the Early Adopter NFT with people wondering what its purpose is. Today, we will reveal all about the NFT and set the speculation straight!
(Note: If you’ve ever joined us for our community town hall events on Twitter or Discord , then this article may not be that exciting because we’ve answered NFT questions during a few of these!)
Background on the Early Adopter NFT’s
After being one of the winners of the Solana SOLSZN Hackathon, we began to gather some initial fans and supporters of Nova. This group of early adopters was very supportive of Nova considering the early stage that we were at.
As we prepared for our IDO, we wanted to thank and reward those early supporters of Nova, especially as we realized how competitive allocation in the IDO would be. Indeed, the Nova IDO fully sold out and many people were unable to participate.
The NFT we issued represents that loyalty and we intend to repay that faith shown in us over time as the protocol grows and evolves.
So what does it actually do?
Some small benefits have already been made available, Early Adopter holders were able to claim the “early adopter” Discord title.
Early adopters were also given direct access to the Nova Devnet release at the start of January. This gave them a sneak preview of Nova and also the chance to earn some initial Nova tokens by participating in feedback sessions.
The first major benefit will coincide with our Mainnet launch. NFT holders will be able to earn a 1.5x multiplier on our first staking program. Within the staking program, protocol users will be able to earn NOVA tokens as rewards.
As an NFT holder, staking your NFT will significantly increase your share of rewards.
The future of NFT’s within the Nova Protocol
We’re very interested in how NFT’s can be used within Nova going forward.
The Early Adopter NFT will give exclusive access and bonuses to its holder for life. As we release new updates and evolve the protocol, new opportunities for Early Adopter NFT holders will arise. One future possibility is our upcoming meritocratic governance release (stay tuned for more details!)
We’re also exploring other use cases for NFT’s within Nova. We don’t want to spoil the surprises but we’re working on some ideas around tribes and avatars that will give bespoke exclusives such as access, rewards, and multipliers. These may be distributed retroactively so make sure to use the Nova platform to its maximum potential!
